Deputy Rusty Owens arrested Thomas Patrick Claussen W/M 2/5/72 for fail to identify giving false/fictitious info.
Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to the 3200 block of Highway 80 East in the Mineola area in reference to the theft of breaker bar, mechanic tools and tool box valued at $3,500.00. This case is under investigation.
Authorities investigate shooting of an Alba man. On Tuesday, June 19, at 10 p.m. the Wood County Sheriffs Department was dispatched to 420 Cr 2375 Alba, Texas in reference to shots being fired.
When they arrived, deputies found a white male who had been shot once in the chest. The victim was identified as Scott Reed, 37. After stabilizing him, paramedics took Mr. Reed to East Texas Medical Center in Quitman, where he later died.
An autopsy was ordered by Judge Alice Tomerlin and Reed’s body was sent to South West Forensic Institute in Dallas. At this time, the investigation is still on-going.
A Mineola man was arrested while burglarizing an Exxon station.
On Saturday June 9th, 2012 at approximately 2:06 am Hawkins Police Department contacted Wood County Sheriff’s Department for backup during several burglaries of buildings. While Hawkins Police were investigating burglaries at Richie’s Restaurant on Hwy. 80 and another one at the Shell Station-Hira Food on Hwy 80.
Officer Eileen Frazier had a 3rd Alarm call came in at the JJ’S Fast Stop –Exxon on US Hwy 80. Officer Frazier noticed the door was broken and heard a banging coming from inside the store.
While investigating a burglary in the Holiday Village Resort Community on Hwy. 154 near LakeFork on Monday June 11th, Wood County Sheriff Deputies received information providing possible suspects and the possible location of the stolen items.
After further investigation Sgt. Jayson Farmer, Deputy Chris Turner, and Reserve Deputy Howard Castleberry III went to separate places where they recovered approximately 100 stolen items. Two white male suspects were taken into custody in the Holiday Village Resort Subdivision for burglary of habitation 18-year-old Davey Cole Hall-Carroll of Quitman and a 15-year-old juvenile, also of Quitman, whose name can’t be released.
